The Burdened Fool and Other Stories

“The impression that the visitor gains of the different ways of ‘listening’ to the story recounted through these powerful and varied images is very close to that of an ‘absurd effort: they’re mad?’ Yet on the other hand, as the sculptor ‘treacherously’ underlines in the ambiguity of the title, there is inevitably a dilemma that arises: do they persist in such an effort because they are fools, or did they become mad by being subjected to the demands of that effort? I believe it is this enigma, worthy of a true sphinx, that the sculptor invites us to decipher.”
